Sewage Cleanup and Restoration Services

A sewer backup is the last thing you want to deal with, but they do happen and it’s important to have a game plan when they do. Any sewage backup should be considered urgent because the water often contains harmful bacteria, viruses and microbes that can lead to serious illness in humans and pets.

Are you dealing with a toilet overflow or a sewer backup? Don’t delay – call ELR today!

There are three types of water damage, classified based upon the type of contaminated water involved. ELR Restoration franchise professionals are trained to inspect your home or business to determine what type of contamination you’re facing, then develop a strategic plan of action to mitigate and clean up the water.

Three Types of Contaminated Water

Category 1: Clean Water

This type of water comes from a clean source, such as a leaky faucet or a broken water pipe. While it does not pose immediate health threats, clean water can become dangerous within as little as 24 hours, depending upon the temperature and potential contaminants. Standing water is a breeding ground for mold and bacteria, so it must be taken seriously.

Category 2: Gray Water

Gray water is already contaminated and dangerous for humans and pets. It can cause illness from bacteria and viruses, and can become Category 3 water very quickly if left untreated. Gray water is often from a toilet overflow containing urine, or a dishwasher or washing machine overflow.

Category 3: Black Water

As you might guess from the name, black water is bad news. It is severely contaminated and could lead to serious illness or even death. It should not be ingested, and any bodily contact with it should be avoided. Category 3 water can originate in rivers or streams, toilet water containing feces, or standing water that has begun to grow bacteria.
